Representative Karen Handel
(GA-6) visited Arylessence at
its Marietta, Georgia, headquarters to
learn about legislative issues affecting
the fragrance industry and the impact of
the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act on the local
economy. She was joined by her District
Director Ashley Jenkins and Georgia State
Director for the National Federation of
Independent Businesses (NFIB) Nathan
Humphries.
Rep. Handel and her staff met with
Arylessence executive leadership, including
President Steve Tanner, Executive Vice
President of Client Services Cynthia T.
Reichard, Vice President of Operations
Bret Tanner, and CFO Chuck Martin. The
group shared about the company’s history
as well as its efforts in the fragrance and
flavor industry over the past 40 years. They
also provided a tour of the facility, allowing
Rep. Handel to witness daily operations and
meet many employees. Rep. Handel and

guests were excited to learn about many
aspects of the business, from laboratory
practices, to quality check procedures, to
understanding the breadth of materials that
are handled in the facility. She even got to
visit the loading dock!
“Arylessence has a long history
of hosting our state and federal
representatives,” said Steve Tanner. “We
were honored to recently add United
States Representative Handel to our list of
official visits. It is beneficial to have this
face-to-face contact with our legislators
and discuss real-life business issues
in our daily work environment. These
visits create an important opportunity
for these officials to meet our employees
and personally experience the processes
required in developing our formulations.
Our goals are to share our passion for our
unique industry, showcase the dedication
of our people, and for them to walk away
thinking of the impact to our industry
when considering future legislation.” FN
